Mit dem Compaq Airlife 100 bringt Compaq bald ein Netbook auf Android-Basis heraus. Auf einer offiziellen Produktseite sind nun die technischen Daten des Airlife 100 zu erfahren:

Als Betriebssystem gibt Compaq “Compaq touch experience powered by Android” an. Bei einem solchem Gerät ist auch die mitgelieferte Software und ihre Funktionalitäten nicht ganz uninteressant: Home screen with Widgets and Shortcut Strip, POP3 & IMAP Email, Calendar & Contacts, Alarm clock / World clock, Calculator & Self Portrait, Camcorder video recorder, Data transfer counter, Wireless printing (photos only), Web browser with tabs and Adobe Flash Lite support, Music player, RoadSync Exchange (email, calendar, and contacts access and synchronization), NDrive navigation with GPS – comes pre-installed with regional maps and points of interest included, Weather application, Quickoffice document handler (works with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe PDF files).
Preise sind nicht bekannt, aber für einen Markterfolg wäre ein niedriger Preis wohl erforderlich. Ob das möglich ist, trifft bei mir auf Skepsis. Davon abgesehen bin ich mir nicht sicher für welche Funktionen man das Netbook verwenden sollte. Sufen und E-Mail sind natürlich offensichtlich, aber da spielt das Betriebssystem kaum eine Rolle. Was ist mit Filmen? Wie es überhaupt mit mobilem Internet aussieht, geht aus den vorliegenden Daten noch nicht hervor.
